World Panel on Sustainability in Hospitality has been launched!
With the announcement below the World Panel on Sustainability in Hospitality has been launched on 24 September.
We are proud to share the announcement and to mention that AIHR professor Dr Elena Cavagnaro is one of the experts' panel members.
Dear colleagues, industry partners, consultants and friends,
Maintaining momentum on climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies, the travel and hospitality industry has an essential role to play today in shaping the sector towards 2050 and a day after the 2019 UN Global Climate Action Summit, I am pleased to announce the launch of the HospitalityNet’s World Panel on Sustainability in Hospitality.
Since sustainability covers a wide range of topics, this panel is supported by more than 50 experts across many fields, including food, energy, water, waste, facilities, communication, social, and strategy. The aim is to get sustainability anchored more than ever into the hospitality conversation and decision-making.
The first viewpoint was posted on 24/09 and addresses climate emergency and carbon reduction commitment:
The idea is not only to feel the pulse of the industry but also spark a conversation that could generate ideas for how the industry might approach challenging issues. You can read the input from the Director of the International Tourism Partnership as well as the VP of Global Sustainability for Las Vegas Sands Corp. for example.
I am pleased to lead this panel with my co-host, Franziska Altenrath, co-founder and owner of Tutaka – a procurement and consultancy business with sustainability at its core.
Viewpoints and input from experts will take place on a monthly basis covering topics ranging from Food Waste, Plastic use, Supply Chain, Metrics/Measurements to Marketing and Certification to name a few areas of interest.
Do share the links above to whoever you know would be interested. And I know one or the other would like to join the panel, do reach out!
