Dr. Bill Rowson, Research lecturer

Dr. Bill Rowson is Research Lecturer at NHL-Stenden University. Bill has held senior academic appointments at several UK and international universities, including, Leeds Beckett University, Nottingham Trent University, Sheffield Hallam University, the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management in Dubai, and Beijing Hospitality Institute, in Beijing. Bill has authored or co-authored over 50 academic papers for Books, academic journals, international conferences and business reports. He has worked extensively with the hospitality industry internationally and generated commercial income from applied research and consultancy, both nationally and internationally.  

Bill holds several international visiting professor positions, and sits on the scientific research committee of the European Academic Network (EAN). Bill has worked as a collaborative member of research teams on European funded research projects funded by the Leonardo and Erasmus funding schemes, working with European partners from Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Spain and Greece.

The principal philosophy underpinning most of Bill’s research is focused on understanding employee relations in the hospitality industry, this is a dynamic and contemporary research area for study, the rise of the Gig Economy and the use of advance technology such as AI and robotics in the hospitality sector are of particular interest, as the industry struggles with staff shortages throughout Europe.
