I am programme manager of the master of International Hospitality and Service Management program offered by NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences. I am also affiliated with the European Tourism Futures Institute where I am mainly involved in complex assignments involving large or special data sets, and economic impact analyses. Apart from the technical aspects involved, I find it interesting to approach these complex issues from a critical perspective. Besides my regular job, I am finishing a doctoral thesis on innovation using social network studies. This project focuses on what drives some managers to deviate from existing practices and become innovators, while other managers stick to old practices and are much less innovative. In summary, much of my research focuses on the innovation and change that happens at the intersection of tourism and hospitality.
