AIHR is pleased to welcome Dr Lucia Tomassini to AIHR and the Research Group 'Sustainability in Hospitality and Tourism' headed by Professor Elena Cavagnaro. Originally from Italy, Lucia has worked in South America and recently completed her PhD at Leeds Beckett University in the UK.

Dr. Lucia Tomassini, Research Lecturer
With a background in architecture and urban planning and an MSc in urban development and reconstruction in developing countries, I spent the first part of my professional career working in the public sector and aid sector in Italy and abroad. In 2009, in Ecuador I had the opportunity to work in a community-based project financed by Europaid. After that experience, I spent the last ten years working in the tourism and hospitality sector with a specific focus on local development and destination management, both as academic researcher and in the private sector. In 2018, I completed my PhD in sustainable tourism at Leeds Beckett University (UK) with a thesis on the narrated organisational effectiveness of small values-based tourism firms, under the supervision of Prof. Rhodri Thomas and Prof. Xavier Font.
