New publication

Based on theory and practice the book Sustainable Value Creation in Hospitality: Guests on Earth takes the reader through the key issues on how to create value on an economic, social and environmental dimension focusing on the hospitality industry, particularly the hotel sector.

This book has three unique features:

- It sets hospitality operations central. While most books on sustainability in hospitality are structured around sustainability issues, such as climate change or fresh water consumption, Sustainable Value Creation in Hospitality: Guests on Earth is organized from the perspective of a hospitality manager. Therefore, the book features dedicated chapters purchasing; buildings; food and beverage; rooms division and so on. Thanks to this structure mangers in a specific area do not need to search information relevant to them in different chapters of a book: this information has already been collected for them in a dedicated chapter.

- Each chapter in the book Sustainable Value Creation in Hospitality: Guests on Earth has been written by experts in that specific area and therefore present top-notch and up-to-date knowledge. Even though, the chapters have a similar structure: after a brief introduction, they discuss sustainability challenges; examine at least two best cases; and present solutions to address the challenges. In this way each chapter offers to managers not only an overview of sustainability issues connected to their department but also practical and easy applicable ideas on how to tackle these challenges.

- The book is offered both in print and as an e-book. Moreover chapters may be bought separately. Managers who wish to know more about overall sustainability principles and sustainable value creation all along the hospitality chain will find this information in the first two chapters of the book. In this way Sustainable Value Creation in Hospitality: Guests on Earth does not only offer tailor-made information on specific areas of hospitality operations but also a general overview of sustainability as resting on the ethical principles of avoiding harm and doing good.

Sustainable Value Creation in Hospitality: Guests on Earth will be of value not only for managers and consultants already working in the industry, but also for bachelor and master students in hospitality programs.

Sustainable Value Creation in Hospitality: Guests on Earth has been edited by Elena Cavagnaro, professor of sustainability in hospitality and tourism at Stenden Hotel Management School, Academy of International Hospitality Research (NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences, Leeuwarden, the Netherlands).
